O.G Sunil or 'OG' as he is fondly known to friends, ventured into business in 1990 with O.G & Co. In 1995 he embarked into real estate and launched the prestigious Link Horizon apartment project on Marine Drive, Kochi.
Cashing in on the IT boom in India, he set up a company dealing in hardware and software in Bangalore in 2002.
With the liberalisation of India, he saw great opportunity in foreign direct investment (FDI) and set up a consultation firm for foreign companies looking to invest in real estate all over India.
In the meantime, tourism emerged as a major industry in Kerala. O.G Sunil capitalised on it and now owns and operates a beach resort at Marari Beach, Alleppey, a heritage resort on the backwaters of Kochi and a three star hotel in central Kerala.
His other philanthropic activities include being Chairman of the Fashion Federation of Kerala from 2009, an organisation that works toward the upliftment of weavers in Kerala.
Administration of a school for underprivileged children, an entity that has been in his family for three generations and one that is close to his heart. The school, founded by his father celebrates it's 90th year. 2500 students attend the school, of whom 95% are educated for free.
He is also on the managing committee of the Cochin Chamber of Commerce for the past 12 years and trustee of the Cochin Port Trust.
HIS PASSION - THE RALLY TRAIL
After his schooling in Rajagiri Public School, Kalamassery, he attended St.Alberts College. Ernakulam and did a short stint in engineering before heeding the call of racing track. In 1979, he underwent professional training in racing at Siverstone, London. Back in India, he joined India's first rally team, the Scissors Action Rally Team, following the Indian rally circuit and coming out with secure places in most of the races he participated. One of the highlights in his rallying career was winning Safdarjung Airport Rally. He retired from the rally circuit in 2002 after racing for Coca Cola. He also represented Federation Motor Sports Club of India from 1980 onwards and MAI from 1985 - 2008. He put in yeomen service as an official for the Telstar Rally in Perth, Australia and the Kenyan Safari International Rally in Kenya, Africa.
An avid sportsperson, he played handball for the Kerala State Team and basketball for Kerala State Junior Team. He also instituted a football academey in Panangad, Kochi which trains local youth to hone their talents. O. G Sunil is known for his business acumen, fearless attitude and a keen eye for the good things in life.
